knit / Keaton hat

After finishing my sweater and starting about a million other knitting projects, I decided I needed a quick, easy project to use with the cold weather setting in:

I saw this yummy roving wool from Paton's at the store the other day and decided that it had to come home with me.  Then I saw a photo posted on Instagram of Shannon Cook wearing her own pattern, the Keaton Hat.  It was super cute and cozy - done!  I never thought I'd like a hat with a pom pom so much.

This is a super easy, well written pattern that's a great instant gratification or beginner project.  The pattern gives you instructions for baby-adult sizes so it's really easy to modify.  I made the adult small which is nice and fitted.  I also shortened the length (or height) since I wanted a less slouchy hat.

This whole project took me something like 4 hours (over a couple days) - there's a very good chance that it might be making a reappearance during my Christmas gift knitting.  I highly recommend Shannon's pattern for a quick gift knit, or for something fun for yourself!

ps. I'm also on Ravelry and Kollabora if you're curious about details!
