handmade / Cobblestone Scarf pattern

I have another pattern for you crocheters out there!  I called this the Cobblestone scarf since that's what  the stitches & spaces kind of look like when they're crocheted in this super chunky yarn!  I wear my scarf like this almost everyday over my coat - and I've been wanting to make one in a brighter color as well - and it really is warm!

This pattern is easily modifiable - the original length scarf wraps twice easily around my neck (even over my coat) but you can also make a mini version like the red scarf in the photo below just by starting with a shorter foundation row.

Materials:
2 skeins of Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick (any other chunky weight yarn will work as well)
size N crochet hook

Chain 151 stitches.  (For the mini version,  chain 65 stitches.)
Row 1: Chain 2, half double crochet (hdc) into the third stitch from your hook.
*Chain 1, skip 1 chain, hdc into the next chain.* Repeat this section until the end of the row.  After the last hdc, chain 2 and turn.
Row 2: Hdc into the chain 1 space in the row below. *Chain 1, hdc into the next chain 1 space* until you reach the end of the row.  After the last hdc, chain 2 and turn.

Repeat row 2 eight more times for the long scarf  or ten more times for a total for 12 rows to make the mini scarf.

After the last row, hold the ends of your scarf together and slip stitch them together and weave in your ends.  Done - now wear proudly and stay warm!  This pattern is also on Ravelry in case you want to link up there - enjoy!
