handmade / DIY accordion Instagram album

I've got a really fun & easy project to share that would make a great last-minute gift!  The inspiration came from these "slinky books" available from MVB Photography

Aren't they fun?? I saw them and thought it would be easy to recreate it using Instagrams taken throughout the year - here's how my version turned out:

I used square paper mache boxes that are from Michael's or Hobby Lobby (for a dollar or two) and some extra card stock I already had on hand.

The boxes I used were 4" square so I cut strips of card stock that were 3 1/2" wide so they would easily fit inside the box.  I had to glue two strips together to get the length I wanted.  Then just fold your card stock into an accordion like the photo above.  Print off the Instagram photos you want to use sized to 3" by 3".  Trim & glue the photos to sections of your accordion - I also used circles of kraft paper with verses & "Merry Christmas" - and decorate it as you like, making sure to leave the first square blank.

Once your accordion with photos & decorations is finished, glue that blank first square to the bottom of the box.  Then you can add a ribbon tab or fabric paper clip to the first accordion square so you can easily open up the accordion album.

Finally, add any decorations you like to the cover of the box and maybe some baker's twine & a gift tag and ta da!  A beautiful little album with no more wrapping necessary.  Happy Christmas crafting!
